Saskatchewan's Voting Week kicks off on Tuesday, October 22, offering six days—or 56 hours—of voting at 303 early voting locations across the province. These early locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until Sunday, October 27. On the final day, Monday, October 28, an additional 413 locations will open, bringing the total to 716 voting sites.
In addition to regular voting locations, 369 Personal Care Facilities (PCFs) will have voting during the first five days, and voting will take place at 68 hospitals and remand centres on October 28.
Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan, highlighted the other voting options offered this election, such as vote by mail and homebound voting, but emphasized that the application deadline for both has passed. "At this stage, the remaining option for casting a ballot is in person at one of the voting locations across the province. Our 5,000 election workers are trained and ready to serve Saskatchewan’s 800,000+ eligible voters," said Dr. Boda.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old by October 28, 2024, and ordinarily residents of Saskatchewan. Voters must present ID showing their name and address before receiving a ballot. A complete list of acceptable ID can be found at www.elections.sk.ca/id.
Voter information cards were sent to registered voters through Canada Post, email, or SMS text over the past two weeks. These cards list voting options, locations, and times. As of October 19, there are 810,683 registered voters in Saskatchewan. Those who are not registered can do so when they show up to vote in person.
Voters can also use the online tool at www.elections.sk.ca/wdiv to find their designated voting location by typing in their address. A list of all regular voting locations is available at www.elections.sk.ca.
For those who applied for vote by mail, a total of 32,405 applications were approved by the October 19 deadline. Completed ballots must be returned to Elections Saskatchewan by 8 p.m. on October 28. Dr. Boda advised, "If there are any delays in completing the vote by mail kit, voters still have the option of voting in person at their assigned voting location."
Voting Week runs from October 22 to 28, offering various ways for Saskatchewan residents to make their voices heard in this important election.
