Lost on a Mountain in Maine, produced by Sylvester Stallone, will be hitting theatres and inspiring people across North America in the next few days.

"It's a story about Donn Fendler who was a kid who was lost, on a mountain, in Maine," says Luke David Blumm, the actor who plays Fendler. "It's a really good story. Deeper down it's a lot about the relationship between Donn and his father. The movie takes place in the 1930s when fathers and sons did not have the closest of relationships."

The film is based on a true story about a father and his two sons who went on a treacherous mountain hike back in 1939. At first, a book was written and published about the story. The book with the same title as the movie has been required reading for many homeschooled kids and on the Christian homeschool curriculum for decades.

"I read the book and watched interviews of him [Donn], which was a lot of the preparation for getting into the character of Donn as a real person, rather than somebody I could just make up or take my own liberties. He goes through a lot of struggles physically and it's very emotionally difficult for him when he's just 12. It's so inspiring to think that a little kid, someone who's 12 years old would be able to do that. It gives me courage."

While filming, Blumm and his dad, who is also an actor, stayed in a cabin in the woods.

"While we were there I got a present from my uncle, a super, fancy drone. I would fly it around for hours every day. I lost the drone. As I was flying it, it hit a tree. So me and my dad spent an hour and a half out looking for it. And while we were out we saw a huge black bear, so that was pretty scary."

Lost on a Mountain in Maine hits theatres on November 1, 2024, across North America.

"Out of all the amazing messages this movie brings, is just tell the people that you love, that you love them," says Blumm. "Make sure that you get your feelings across because you never know."
