Saskatchewan RCMP have provided an update to the Dangerous Persons Alert that was issued on Thursday.  

The two suspects that were arrested on Thursday were located by by Saskatoon Police Services Air Support Unit running along the Saskatchewan River bank, approximately three kilometers from where they were seen entering the bush and arrested by RCMP officers on the ground near Highway #123.

18-year-old Melissa McCallum from La Ronge and 33-year-old Angus Heathen from Prince Albert are facing several charges 

  • 1 count, aggravated assault, section 268 of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, robbery with a firearm, section 344(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) of Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, section 92(1) of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, section 94 of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, discharging a firearm with intent, section 244(a) of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, unlawfully cause bodily harm, section 269 of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 of the Criminal Code 

  • 1 count, pointing a firearm, section 87 of the Criminal Code 

 

McCallum was treated by EMS and released into police custody after suffering injuries as a result of the collision between the Dodge Ram and a heavy equipment vehicle around 10:30 a.m on Thursday. Both McCallum and Heathen will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.  

The two remaining suspects were not located overnight around Highway #123 despite extensive ground and air searches by police. 

The shooting victim remains in hospital and updates will not be provided to maintain his privacy.  

Saskatchewan RCMP is asking residents/businesses between Holbein and past Nipawin up to the Thunder Rapids area (especially along Highway #355/55) to check video surveillance (from doorbell cameras, trail cameras, security cameras, etc.) for any signs of a black Honda CRV with three to four suspects dressed in all black and bandanas over their faces between October 23 and the morning of October 24, driving in and between the Holbein and Thunder Rapids areas. 

Tips should be reported by calling 310-RCMP (7267).  

Saskatchewan RCMP is also asking residents of these areas to check on their neighbours to ensure everyone’s safety.
