Clearview Co-op celebrated their newest Food Store’s Grand Opening this last week in Sainte Anne, and the response from the community has been remarkable.
While construction began back in 2023, Clearview Co-op Senior Manager Gavin Walls shares that onlookers were gathering almost daily to check on the progress.
“We had to keep leading people off the site to keep the area safe as a construction zone,” he laughs. "People were just so excited- it was a really good problem for us to have!”
Today, the completed 22,000 square foot Food Store’s shelves are stocked with produce, baked goods, fresh and frozen meats, and pantry staples. A pharmacy will also be open to the public shortly. Walls notes that the plan for the business is to be flexible, ensuring that their services and products continually meet local need.
“Anytime we get into projects, we want to make sure that we’re working with our stakeholders, including municipalities and government bodies, to understand the strategy of starting a new business.”
Walls states that choosing Sainte Anne for their most recent food store was not done haphazardly. The original Clearview Co-op opened in Sainte Anne back in 1927, and after many decades of growth, it only made sense for the newest addition to be built on home soil.
“We felt it was important for us to put a flagship store back where everything started,” Walls shares. “We’re following the path of fueling our communities, enriching our community, and pouring that money back into the community.”
After a year of construction and a very successful grand opening, Walls thanks everyone for their continued support and encouragement.
“All the compliments and comments we’ve been getting- it’s just been very, very positive.”
Clearview Co-op at 540 Traverse Road is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00AM to 8:00PM and Sundays from 10:00AM to 6:00pm.
