Over the past week, Biggar RCMP officers responded to 30 incidents, addressing a range of community and traffic concerns.
Traffic Incidents
Eight drivers were advised on traffic safety this week. One collision was reported on Highway 14 near Kinley, where a vehicle encountered a deer. In another incident, a Pontiac Vibe left roadside on Highway 14 near Perdue had its window smashed and was rummaged through before the owner returned after work.
Mischief and Public Safety
In town, mischief was reported involving damage to a school bus parked on 4 Avenue West. Police also received multiple complaints about an ATV operating unsafely on the same street. The riders, aged 16 and 17, were cautioned about the improper use of their vehicle within town limits.
Public Assistance
A delivery driver had an unusual encounter this week, discovering a two-year-old child wandering barefoot in a diaper near 8 Avenue West and Quebec Street. The child was safely returned home, located two blocks away.
Investigations
RCMP are investigating ongoing threats reportedly made to an Animal Protection Officer by a disgruntled dog owner. Additionally, Fisheries and Oceans Canada enforcement officers from Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador, sought assistance in Kinley to serve a court summons related to a cross-provincial case.
Fraud Alert
A local resident reported a case of fraud after their name was used to open a cell phone account, leading to a bill with a collection agency.
