Tisdale RCMP is investigating a serious school bus collision that took place around 3:55 p.m. on October 28, near Township Road 424 and Range Road 2160, approximately 22 kilometres southwest of Tisdale. Emergency personnel, including local fire and EMS teams, responded to the scene where the school bus, carrying 27 students aged 14 to 17 and an adult driver, was found upright in the ditch.
The collision resulted in injuries for all occupants. Twenty-six students and the bus driver were transported to nearby hospitals, while one child was flown to a Saskatoon hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. Of those involved, 21 children sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while six children and the bus driver suffered serious injuries. RCMP have not disclosed details about the specific injuries out of respect for the individual’s privacy.
A Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation. RCMP have not yet identified the cause of the collision and are unable to provide further information at this stage.
The incident led to road closures along Range Road 2160 and Range Road 2155, where detours remain in place. Drivers are urged to anticipate delays, follow all posted directions, and remain cautious near the area. Updates can be accessed through the Highway Hotline.
