A whole day dedicated to the spooky and scary, it's Halloween here in Weyburn. Children put on their costumes to go to school before hitting the streets and looking for treats or causing tricks. Halloween's origins date back over 2000 years ago to ancient Celtic times when people would wear costumes and make bonfires to ward off ghosts and spirits. Now, the spirit of Halloween keeps that scary theme alive, but with a much different look as kids dress up in their favourite costumes and go door-to-door to try and get a bounty of candy.
One of the most entertaining parts of Halloween is the decorations and costumes. Hundreds of dollars and tons of hours go into having the best costume as a trick-or-treater, as well as decorating the front of homes with the scariest and coolest Halloween decorations possible. DiscoverWeyburn has went around town collecting data with some of our favourite decorated houses and compiled a map so those out on Halloween tomorrow can enjoy the time and effort that was put into decorating.
