For the second time in five seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers are Major League Baseball champions.
The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in game five, 7-6 with relief pitcher, Blake Treinen securing the win.
Following the victory, Treinen said he was feeling joy. "Overwhelming joy, God is absolutely good. I have to give a shout-out to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for this moment."
LA would find themselves down 5-0 after the first three innings, but managed to rally to become the first club to overcome a five-run deficit to win the World Series.
Treinen says to FOX Sports, "What a moment for us to come back. I've been very blessed to be a part of this organization for five years, my first year we were very blessed to have a World Series in Texas. It's so great to see the guys who have been here since 2020, been able to silence the critics. Every year has its challenges, everyone has the same playing field. This team has zero quit in it."
When Treinen recorded the final out, he said that the first thing he thought of was God.
"Everything that I've been through, it's so good to be here," he said, crediting God for bringing him through adversities he's faced as an athlete.
