Landmark Blues have a strong program in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League this year.
Jackson Reimer, forward for the Blues, is going into his third year with the team and says it has been the best place he’s ever played.
“I wouldn't want to play anywhere else. I've had opportunities to play elsewhere but stay loyal to Landmark because it’s a special team, special group, and I think we can do something very special this season.”
He shares that the program has been growing and they have been able to recruit very talented players to make a solid team this year.
Reimer adds that it means everything to represent Landmark.
“The town shows up to all the games and their support is very appreciated by our guys. It just means a lot to have the community behind us and we love representing Landmark and wearing the Blues logo on our chest.”
He continues, “Just having a small part in something so special like this just means the world. This team is super special and for me, being able to play for three years and having some success, I give all the credit to the coaches and to the guys that stuck around here in Landmark and it’s a special group for sure.”
He concludes that the team has a long way to go and lots of progress to make but he knows they will peak at the right moment.
Coach Riley Plett says they have been putting in a lot of good work on and off the ice.
“Really working on building a solid team culture and we strongly believe that putting together a winning team starts in the dressing room and we love the talent that we have, and we've really been working on bringing all the boys together.”
He shares that the community has been incredible.
“I was on the team last year playing as a goalie and joined this year as a coach again and the fans are great, we love the community, we love getting involved in the community where we can and hope to grow the game of hockey in Landmark.”
Plett says it is a dream for a lot of young kids from Landmark to become a Blue one day.
“This is junior hockey and that's where we all want to play one day with our friends and family and have the community all eyes on yes.”
Landmark has invested in their arena, and he explains that it means a lot to the players.
“It's big for the team. We have good relationships with everyone at the rink and keep working with them and respecting everyone and we've really been able to flourish in that arena.”
Having a team to cheer for in the community is great because it brings everyone together.
“Even though we might have some rivalries between teams, we can all come together and celebrate our great game of hockey for a day,” Plett explains.
He says they want to continue to see that Landmark program grow, not only this year but in the future as well.
“We'll keep investing into our players and investing into the culture that we're trying to build in the team and hopefully going forward, our vets can carry us forward and be able to put together a winning team here.”
