This month a new docuseries produced by Martin Scorsese will be released, showcasing four saints and how they lived fully for God.
The TV series, The Saints, will be released in two parts. The first part will showcase four humans, including the well-known John the Baptist and Joan of Arc. Another 'saint' that may be lesser known is Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish Franciscan monk who sacrificed his life in a concentration camp during WWII. The fourth person showcased is Sebastian, a soldier in Rome who defied Emperor Diocletian’s decrees against Christianity.
The Saints will be showcased on Fox Nation on Nov. 17, 2024, with each episode airing the following week. Part two of the series, showcasing another four saints will air in May of 2025.
"I’ve lived with the stories of the saints for most of my life, thinking about their words and actions, imagining the worlds they inhabited, the choices they faced, the examples they set," said Scorsese in an interview. "These are stories of eight very different men and women, each of them living through vastly different periods of history and struggling to follow the way of love revealed to them and to us by Jesus’ words in the Gospels. I’m so excited that this project is underway, and that I’m working with so many trusted and talented collaborators."
The first episode to air will showcase Joan of Arc and her heroism in the face of danger. This female saint died at the stake at just 19 years old, and she was canonized in 1920 as the patron saint of soldiers.
The 81-year-old director had announced earlier this year that he would be working on a film about the life of Jesus, but the project has since been postponed.
