The Horizon School Division has announced their current enrolment numbers for students from PreKindergarten to Grade 12.
As of September 30, there are 6,701 students enrolled within the school division. This includes 179 home-school students not otherwise enrolled in a Horizon school.
This total is an increase from 2023 that saw 6,555 students. It’s also the fourth straight year enrollment numbers went up in the Horizon School Division.
In a release, Director of Education Kevin Garinger said, “It is an honour to be trusted with the growth and learning of our students, and we are deeply committed to the responsibility this entails,” he added, “Horizon School Division’s dedicated staff and Board of Education strive to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where each student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.”
LeRoy, Punnichy Elementary Community, Punnichy Community High, Viscount Central, Winston High, and Wynyard Composite High schools all saw an increase of at least 10%.
Drake, George Gordon Education Centre, and Wadena Composite High schools all saw a decrease of at least 10%.
