Road conditions in and around Airdrie have deteriorated as wet snow accumulates on area highways, and there are reports of vehicles in ditches on backroads.

Currently, the QEII southbound, towards Calgary city limits, is partly covered in snow, with icy sections, slush, and icy wheel paths; similar road conditions have been reported north of Airdrie on the QEII. Commuters driving into Calgary will also notice slippery and slushy roads. Motorists must exercise caution as winter driving is in effect, snow plows and road crews are on the streets.

Motorists heading north of Cochrane on Highway 22 should be prepared for drifting and blowing snow and patches of black ice.
Airdrie's local forecast predicts the wet snow periods will end late this morning. Temperatures are expected to fall to minus nine this afternoon.
