Injured winger Paige Preston confident in Western Prairie Junior Klippers' season despite setback
The Western Prairie Junior Klippers are off to a strong start this season, bolstered by a talented roster and a positive team spirit. One of their key players left and right winger Paige Preston, shared her insights on the team’s progress and her own recovery from a recent injury in an exclusive interview.
Preston, who grew up in Brock, Saskatchewan, has been playing hockey for about eight years. Her love for the sport began at a young age, inspired by her dad, who played and encouraged her to join. This season marks her first with the Western Prairie Junior Klippers, a team she feels has a lot of potential.
Joining the Klippers and Embracing the Female League Experience
Having played in female leagues for most of her hockey career, Preston expressed her appreciation for the unique atmosphere. "I love the camaraderie and the friendships we build," she said. "The girls are great teammates, and we push each other to improve every game."
However, Preston has faced a setback early this season, suffering a hockey-related injury that has sidelined her for several weeks. "I’m out for a total of six weeks," she revealed. "I have about five more weeks to go, followed by some physiotherapy."
Despite the injury, Preston remains committed to her team. "It’s always tough watching from the sidelines," she admitted. "I want to be out there playing and contributing, but I’ll be at every game, cheering on the girls and supporting them however I can."
Looking Ahead to the Next Game Against Southwest Impact
The Western Prairie Junior Klippers are gearing up for a crucial matchup against the Southwest Impact on November 9 in Kindersley. While Preston won’t be playing, she’s confident her team will come out strong. "If we learn from our last game and play harder, I believe we have a good chance of winning," she said.
Preston emphasized the importance of team unity and resilience. "We have a tough team, and we always keep each other’s hopes up," she added. "The girls are determined, and I think we’ll make it far this year."
Hopes for the Remainder of the Season
Looking ahead, Preston is eager to rejoin her teammates and help push the Klippers deeper into the playoffs. "I’m looking forward to playing with these amazing hockey players and working towards our goal of reaching the final game," she said.
Paige Preston’s dedication and optimism, even while injured, reflect the strong team spirit of the Western Prairie Junior Klippers. As they prepare for their next challenge, fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead, with players like Preston ready to make an impact as soon as she’s back on the ice.
