The community is invited to join the City of Grande Prairie and DownTown Association on December 1 for the Christmas Tree Light-Up at H.A. Rice Plaza and The Bowes at Bonnetts Energy Centre.
Festivities start at 4 p.m. with free cookies, hot chocolate and candy canes, sponsored by Beairsto & Associates Engineering Ltd. The tree lighting ceremony follows shortly afterward at 4:35 p.m.
Visits with Santa and a family-friendly Christmas movie take place in The Bowes after the Christmas Tree Light-Up from 4:45 to 7 p.m.
The Grande Prairie Fire Department and law enforcement will face off for the Battle of the Badges hockey game in Bonnetts Energy Centre at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. Entry is available by donation with all proceeds going to Helping Hands Society of Grande Prairie.
The Battle of the Badges is an annual hockey game hosted by the Grande Prairie Firefighters Charitable Foundation to raise funds for local non-profits in the city.
