The trailer for a film coming to Netflix focussing on Mary, the mother of Jesus has been released.

Mary is telling the nativity story of the birth of Jesus and the aftermath as Mary and Joseph flee from King Herod's pursuit.

Noa Cohen stars as Mary and Ido Tako as Joseph, with Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins playing the role of King Herod.

Mary is a labour of love, according to producer Mary Aloe. “This story is needed now more than ever in our world. As a woman, a Christian, and a producer, Mary’s story is important to me. This is a story of faith, hope, and pure love,” she said

Show runners hope the film offers a different look at Mary as a relatable young woman who faces hardship when she becomes pregnant miraculously.

Mary and Joseph must rely on their faith as their community and everyone around turns against them as King Herod hunts them down.

To ensure biblical accuracy, the script went through over 70 drafts.

Mary streams on Netflix on Dec. 6, 2024.
