The Kenaston Kodiaks and the Kerrobert Rebels head to Allan and Colonsay this weekend for a 10-team provincial tournament, aiming to reach the playoffs once again in pursuit of a provincial medal. The Rebels start with a game against Maymont at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15.
At the 2A regionals held in Langham, Wilkie and Neilburg faced off in a semifinal rematch. Wilkie topped Pool B, while Neilburg's loss to Langham in Pool A placed them in second, setting up the showdown.
The two evenly matched teams battled it out in the first set, with Wilkie ultimately taking it 26-24 after extra points. With momentum on their side, Wilkie secured the second set 25-14, advancing to the regional final.
In the final, the host team Langham defeated Wilkie, but both teams advanced to the 2A provincial championships in Outlook. The Broncs will kick off the tournament with a game against Wadena at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15.
Meanwhile, in the 3A SHSAA regionals, the Unity Warriors secured second place in their pool. In a dramatic semifinal against Makwa that went to three sets, Unity clinched a 15-12 win in the third set to reach the regional championship game.
Waldheim claimed the regional title, but Waldheim, Unity, and third-place Makwa all earned spots at provincials. At the 3A provincial tournament, Waldheim and Makwa are in Pool B, while Unity competes in Pool A, starting with a 1 p.m. game against Kipling on Nov. 15.
