Last Cowboy Standing, a rodeo operating in Strathmore, has been awarded Event of the Year at the Bull Riders Canada finals.
The finals took place at Sylvan Lake on November 15 and 16 and sanctions rodeo events across the country, including Last Cowboy Standing.
"All of the carded members are able to vote on who had the best event, so it's voted on by the riders, personnel, and all of the members," said Cale Pribyl, CEO and owner of Lazy P Rodeo Company, which runs Last Cowboy Standing.
Pribyl said that this is the second time he has been awarded Event of the Year as he also won the award in 2022 and was the runner-up in 2021 and 2023.
"It was a shock, as per usual. We're very grateful for all the support from the community, the riders, and all of the members involved."
Last Cowboy Standing took place in late September and featured 28 bull riders in an elimination-style contest.
Another local contractor, Colin Forster of TFB Ranch, was awarded with Bull of the Year at the Bull Riders Canada finals.
