The City of Grande Prairie and Grande Prairie Sunrise House are excited to announce the renaming of 107 Avenue to Tenille Townes Way.
The street is renamed to recognize the Grande Prairie local and Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) winner and pay tribute to the positive impact she’s made through her music and philanthropic efforts.
The renaming ceremony took place as part of her tour stop at Bonnetts Energy Centre for the Tenille Townes: Thing that Brought Me Here tour.
“At a young age, Tenille has already built a strong, record-breaking reputation for herself as an artist while remaining a dedicated philanthropist and staying connected to her roots in Grande Prairie,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We’re pleased to reveal Tenille Townes Way as a way to permanently commemorate our pride in Tenille Townes, who has proudly represented Grande Prairie on the international stage in the country music industry and beyond.”
“Thank you to the City of Grande Prairie for supporting this street naming. Tenille Townes Way will now lead youth to safety and warmth! To a building the community built for our youth and a place that Tenille Townes has wrapped her arms around since 2010. We are so proud of her success and even more proud to call her ours! Thank you, Tenille Townes, for your continued love for your community, we love you right back!” said Sunrise House Executive Director, Tanya Wald.
