The Town of Kyle is making another effort to find a new mayor.
Nobody stepped forward to run for the position during the recent municipal election.
Kyle elected five councillors by acclamation last week. They have a by-election set for January 22nd to fill vacancies for mayor and a sixth spot on town council.
In the meantime, council appointed Dennis Hall as deputy mayor. The veteran councillor will fulfill the duties of the mayor until someone steps into the role.
Nominations open on November 25th and run until December 18th.
"To be eligible for nomination, you must not be disqualified," Kyle CAO Amber Dashney told us during a previous nomination period. "You must be 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, a Saskatchewan resident for six months, and you also must reside in the municipality for three consecutive months prior to the day of submitting the nomination paper."
Anyone interested can pick up nomination forms from the town office.
The new council includes Denise Schneider, Rach Risi, Doug Hodgins, Darryl Harbor, and Dennis Hall.
Former Mayor George Williams retired from the position he'd held since November 2021.
