The westbound lanes of Highway 1 have been closed from Brandon to Griswold once again in western Manitoba.
The stretch of highway had only been open for a few hours before being shut down at 9:31 p.m. on Wednesday.
Strong winds and a mix of precipitation, including snow and rain, battered western Manitoba and led to dozens of highway closures throughout the day. It wasn't until 5:20 p.m. that all highways had been reopened.

The Trans-Canada east of Brandon was reopened earlier in the day. However, NZP Chasers, Manitoba-based storm chasers, have reported on social media "The Trans-Canada Hwy has reopened east of Brandon, but it's far from good. Completely ice-covered until about Austin."
People travelling west and north today should continue to monitor closures and highway conditions.
Much of western Manitoba, including the Parkland and Westman regions, continued to be under a winter storm warning until just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
NZP Chasers reported about 22 cm of snow had fallen in the Carberry area.
Some snow may continue overnight throughout southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg.
High winds will continue to gust around 50+ km/h in much of the south, as well. The low is expected to drop to -4 overnight in Winnipeg, with a wind chill of -10. Things don't improve at all on Thursday, with the daytime temperature hovering around -4 and a wind chill of -12 expected at times in open areas.
