Two people are dead and others have been injured following a collision near Alcurve on Nov. 16, according to Maidstone RCMP.
The crash occurred around noon at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 3, involving a white passenger vehicle and a grey pickup truck.
Witnesses described the collision as severe, noting that the impact force tore the box off the pickup truck’s chassis and hurled it across the roadway.
RCMP say the 71-year-old driver of the pickup truck, a Lloydminster resident, was pronounced dead by EMS en route to hospital. A male passenger in the truck sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
A 27-year-old male passenger in the car, also from Lloydminster, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s driver, an adult male, was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The RCMP’s collision reconstruction team closed the area to traffic for several hours as they conducted their investigation.
