A Canada-wide warrant of arrest has been issued for a man involved in a fatal crash last week in the Pembina Valley.

On Friday evening, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Provincial Roads 201 and 306, approximately 13 kilometres west of Altona.

The investigation has determined that an eastbound semi failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle (SUV). The SUV was being driven by a 35-year-old female from the Rural Municipality of Rhineland, who was pronounced dead on scene. Her eight-year-old female passenger died in hospital.

The 25-year-old male driver of the semi, from Brampton, Ontario, was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

RCMP now say that on Wednesday, they charged 25-year-old Navjeet Singh with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, as well as obstructing a peace officer.

Officers have attempted to locate Singh in Winnipeg without success and as a result, a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Singh is asked to contact their local police or the Pembina Valley RCMP at 204-822-5469, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com
