After years of prayer, planning, and transformation—both physical and spiritual—a new chapter begins for a southern Manitoba church this weekend.
Gospel Mission Church says it is excited to announce its official launch on November 24 at 10 a.m.
Brad Driedger, the campus pastor of Gospel Mission Morden, shared the vision behind the event.
“We want to invite the community to be a part of what we’re calling a launch... especially those that don’t have a church to call home to come and just experience who we are as a church and to ask God, ‘Hey, is this a place where we can connect and pursue God together?’”
A new beginning
While Gospel Mission Church has been established in Winkler for years, the Morden campus is a relatively new extension aimed at bringing the church’s mission to a broader area. The journey began in 2021 when the previous EMM church leadership reached out to Winkler Gospel Mission Church.
“I was also in the Winkler campus of Gospel Mission Church at that time and serving there. And it kind of began a journey of just trying to discern what God’s will was for our church and for this church.”
Driedger shared that he and his family were called to lead the new chapter and that the journey involved lots of prayer.
“God led my family and I to this church to be the campus pastors here from the Winkler campus, so it’s been cool to see.”
Renovating for Gospel Mission
The church’s new space has undergone significant renovations since April, though Driedger explained that the changes were not only physical but were felt on another level as well.
“We really felt, you know, God’s been renovating the heart of this church in so many different ways. Like I said, bringing new life, new beginnings... it’s almost symbolic to the renovation that God’s been doing in our hearts.”
The renovations included an overhaul of the main auditorium, the foyer, and the addition of a new cafe — creating space for both worship and community connection.
“It’s not about the building as much as it is about the mission, and so we want to see this facility facilitate that mission for what God has for us.”
Join the launch
The official launch event on November 24 will kick off with fellowship at 9:30 am, where guests can enjoy coffee and snacks in the church’s new cafe before the 10 a.m. service.
Following the service, the church will host a free lunch around 11:30 a.m., providing an opportunity for everyone to mingle and celebrate the church’s new season together.
