West central Saskatchewan remains under a snowfall warning as heavy snow persists into the night. Kindersley has already seen 10 to 15 centimetres of accumulation, with pockets of heavier snowfall expected to continue reducing visibility further as darkness falls.
Highway Hotline reports that road conditions range from partially to fully covered with snow, compounded by drifting and reduced visibility. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and only travel if necessary.
The snowfall warning from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) predicts total accumulations of 15 to 25 centimetres before the storm subsides. The system, driven by a developing low-pressure area over Montana, has blanketed southwestern Saskatchewan and is steadily advancing eastward, reaching the Manitoba border by late Saturday afternoon.
For most of the province, snowfall is expected to taper off Sunday morning, though east-central Saskatchewan may experience lingering heavy snow into Sunday evening.
Residents are reminded that rapidly accumulating snow can make travel hazardous. Visibility may drop suddenly in heavy snow, and surfaces like highways, roads, and parking lots are expected to remain challenging to navigate.
ECCC advises drivers to adjust their travel plans and to use extra caution. Take frequent breaks and avoid overexertion when clearing snow. For the latest road conditions, consult the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.
