Christian, professional figure skater, and cancer survivor Scott Hamilton recently hosted the Skate to Eliminate Cancer event where Cece Winans and Steven Curtis Chapman performed live.

"Had an amazing night sharing music and hope while supporting the incredible work of the Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation," says Cece Winans on Instagram. "Grateful to be part of something so meaningful."

Olympic gold medal winner Hamilton has had a long journey with cancer, including testicular cancer along with three brain tumours.

Back in February this year, he shared, "The veil between us and the Lord is thinnest when we're in our suffering. We're here by His grace and mercy. Our bodies are fragile but resilient. Temporary. So we live our days joyfully. We live our days hopefully. We live our days faithfully!"

On Nov. 24 the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation cancer benefit took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Performing this year during the eighth annual event were CeCe Winans, Charles Esten, Gavin DeGraw, Journey's Jason Derlatka, The Issacs and Steven Curtis Chapman.

"So grateful to my friend, Scott Hamilton for the opportunity to be part of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation event last night," said Chapman on Instagram. It was an honour to witness the incredible ice skaters who are using their passion and talent to #sk8toelimin8cancer."

Hamilton started the foundation with a commitment "dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats cancer while sparing the patient" by "[being] a neutral convener between organizations, researchers, academic scientists, drug developers, and others to accelerate the advancement of less toxic treatments for isolated cancers and tumours."
