The Canada Post Strike has thrown a wrinkle into the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation’s (HDHF) Christmas Angel Appeal.

Over 5,000 Christmas Angel Cards are ready to be mailed out to donors for this year's campaign.

Executive Director Lorrie Bunko says they would prefer to send out the cards to their donors with a personalized message and to thank them for their continued support.

Past donors have been emailed information for the 2024 Christmas Angel Appeal.

She adds there are alternative ways for a donor to contribute to this year’s fundraiser and still have the tree decorated with angels with a family name or in memory of a loved one(s).

  • Phoning us at 306-682-4450 and paying with credit card

  • Visit the HFDF offices, which are located at the Humboldt District Health Complex.

The Foundation has hosted Christmas Angel Appeal for over 20 years and is used to achieve funding for priority equipment needs for the Humboldt District Health Complex.

Some of the equipment the foundation is fundraising for is the Pharmacy Clean Room Upgrade. The HDHF has committed $250,000.00, which is 50% of the estimated cost of the upgrade.  So far, the foundation has raised 10% of the goal.

Bunko added that additional scopes are needed for the Operating Room.

There is also a need for lab equipment for diagnostic imaging, with one of the pieces costing $100,000 that will offer new testing to benefit emergencies.
