It's clear sailing along Highway 5 through the Humboldt corridor to Saskatoon - for the time being at least.

Saskatchewan's Ministry of Highways reports that construction has wrapped up for the season on the Highway 5 corridor safety improvement project.

A release from the Ministry goes on to state that his multi-year highway improvement project is being completed in three phases from Saskatoon city limits to the junction of Highway 2.

The current phase is scheduled to be completed in 2025. It includes work from 15 km west of the south junction with Highway 2 to near Blucher Road as well as the realignment of the St. Denis Access.

Over the winter months, Highway 5 within the construction zone will be left with approximately 1 km of a gravel surface including 3.5 km of gravel shoulders and an eastbound passing lane. Speeds will be reduced from 60 km/hr to 80 km/hr to ensure it is safe travel.

Safety is the first priority, says the Ministry. For updates on road restrictions and delays related to this project, please check in with the Highway Hotline
