Despite the Canada Post strike, the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre (HRNC) is ensuring any kids who have sent Santa Claus a letter with the mailbox outside of their office, will receive a response from Kris Kringle.
Executive Director Janine Hart says they’ve received a notice from Santa that he will be making an appearance at the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre on Friday, December 20 at 7:00.
Jolly old St. Nicholas will be on hand to deliver return letters that were sent by the mailbox outside of the HRNC office, which is located at 636 9th Street.
Anyone who sent Santa a letter will have the chance to meet Santa and have an opportunity to tell the big man in red any last-minute Christmas wishes before his big delivery on the 25th.
This Sunday, December 8, the HRNC will also be hosting a community connections event at the Humboldt Public School.
They will be hosting a free movie as they will be showing the Christmas classic, Home Alone. Everyone is welcome to attend, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
After the movie is over, there will be some cookie decorating.
Hart says, “As we close 2024, we want to have some celebrations and coming together.”
