A special Christmas show will arrive in Humboldt next Thursday, December 19th.
Jeffery Straker will be performing A Very Prairie Christmas at the Legion Hall. Lady Friday will be the opening act for the evening.
Straker has been very busy touring around the province with his Christmas performance including a pair of shows at Casino Regina and another two concerts at the Bassment in Saskatoon.
On stage with Straker is his band that consists of an acoustic guitar player that sings extra harmonies along with a bass player.
While playing the piano and singing, Straker explains the show will highlight the festive season.
“I’m doing all of the holiday songs, traditional songs, classic songs, a few originals of my own.”
He adds that “A Very Prairie Christmas” promises to be an interactive event.
“For me, all these songs are attached to memories, what I find everyone in the audience, the songs have memories attached as well. When we talk to people at the break or talk to people at the after the show, inevitably, talk about the memories that these songs conjure up.”
Straker added, “People have funny, ridiculous stories, but also some sad ones too, some people have lost someone from their family, a friend or relative, and some of these songs are attached to them.”
Originally from Punnichy, Straker is no stranger to Humboldt, noting that he had relatives in the community and would often pay them a visit while he was growing up.
His performance in Humboldt will mark Straker’s second last show of 2024, he will be finishing off his tour in Lloydminster the following night.
The doors will open at 6:30, with the show getting underway at 7:00.

Desserts will be served in between Straker’s sets.
The Arts Humboldt "Christmas Cheer" basket raffle draw will take place and there will also be a 50-50 at the concert as well.
