After months of preparation, the St. Peter’s Chorus are gearing up for a big weekend.
They will be performing two concerts, Friday night in Wadena at the Wadena Community Legion beginning at 7:30.
Their annual Christmas concert in Humboldt is Sunday afternoon at the St. Augustine Church at 2:30.
Director Maxine Moore says the choir has been practicing on a weekly basis since September in preparation of their two performances this weekend.
Currently, the St. Peter’s Chorus is comprised of 50 members ranging from 11 different communities in the region, ranging as far south as the Lanigan, Guernsay, and Watrous area, and as far north in the towns of Naicam and Lac Vert.
Members of the choir range from 15-85.
There will be plenty of holiday favorites from different eras according to Moore.
“Because it's the third Sunday of Advent, we have a trio of songs surrounding Mary and also, we have music from the early 15th century all the way up to modern music.”
Moore added that they will be singing songs in four different languages including a Ukrainian Christmas Carol.
There will also be an opportunity for the audience to get involved in the performance with a Silent Night singalong and Moore encourages everyone in attendance to sing along with the choir during that song.
