What started out as a simple way to put a smile on residents' faces, ended up being a huge success.
In fact, the Altona Tim Horton's Holiday Smile Cookie Week turned out to be the top-selling campaign in Manitoba with 12,131 cookies sold. The year-old location also ranked #6 in Canada.
Sold for $1.50 during one week in November, half of the total proceeds were forwarded to Tim Horton's Foundation Camps, and The Community Exchange (TCE) was selected to receive the other half.
Smiles and the spirit of the season
Taking things to next level, TCE came up with an ambitious one-day event to go along with the campaign — along with smiles and the spirit of the season, they delivered cookies door-to-door in an Altona-wide cookie blitz. Thanks to a raft of sponsors and dozens of volunteers, the organization pulled it off.
"One of my favourite parts of the day was going to Tim Horton’s to pick up our daily cookies for decorating," said Paul Peters, TCE Executive Director. "I was always greeted with a smile and a feeling like the team at Tim’s was working with us. It felt like a true team. Big shout out to Raj and the staff at Tim Horton’s. You were a major part in the success of this experience."

Turns out, those at home on delivery night weren't the only ones to earn a smile from the push.
"We can’t help but remember all the smiles of folks who came out to decorate, deliver, and support us that week. We had the high school student council, local business leaders, and community members out to decorate/deliver," added Peters.
Rupesh Patel, owner of the Altona location said, "We would like to thank entire community, all the volunteers and our team members for their hard work to make this campaign a huge success."
"We might need a bit of time to recover but would look forward to running another campaign one day," added Peters.
