Police warn of fraud scheme in Morden, highlighting dangers of over-sharing personal information online"

Police in Morden say a recent fraud attempt is a good reminder that information easily accessible on the internet can be used against potential victims to make a scam more believable. This, after a scammer recently requested credit card information in order to fulfill a prescription at a local pharmacy.
    
According to the police service, when questioned further by the complainant, the scammer said the prescription was issued by a local doctor. Neither the pharmacy nor the doctor was involved in the attempt, noted authorities.

Excitement is building among local softball players as they gear up for another season.

Registration is now open for the Altona Angels 2025 season and word is getting out as registrations trickle in. 

"We've sent out advertising in the community, both online and we've connected with area schools just to share with students that the upcoming season is approaching," said President Derek Sawatzky. 

The club offers seven divisions; U7 Learn to Play, U9 Learn to Play, U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19. 

Heavy police presence reported in Roland

Authorities say there is no threat to the public following social media reports of an early morning police presence in Roland.
    
According to photos posted online, several RCMP vehicles were posted outside of a home in the community around 6:30 a.m., followed by loud bangs.

Information provided to PembinaValleyOnline by the Morden Police Service noted the incident is part of an investigation in conjunction with the Winkler Police Service, with assistance from Pembina Valley RCMP. 
    
More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Morden police suspend four drivers in one week for Impaired Driving

Four motorists were suspended from driving by Morden police in the last week. 
    
The first incident happened shortly before Midnight on Friday, February 14th when officers on patrol noticed a speeding vehicle and pulled it over. That's when they say they could smell liquor coming from the driver. Following a roadside test, which resulted in a warning, the driver was issued a 72-hour suspension, 3-day vehicle impoundment and a $400 fine.

Then, two drivers were pulled off the road Sunday following roadside tests. 

Cold snap to end soon as Alberta Clipper lies in wait

After enduring the coldest two-week stretch of the winter, a big shift in the weather is on its way for residents of southern Manitoba. 

Meteorologist Andy Yun with Environment Canada says the cold air is the result of the polar vortex being firmly entrenched over the eastern Arctic, most of the Prairies and down into eastern Canada. So far this winter, there have been nine days where the temperature has dipped below -30 degrees, and five of those days have happened since February 11th. 

26-Year-Old Morden man arrested after alleged assault in Plum Coulee

A 26-year-old Morden man was arrested Thursday after Altona police officers responded to an assault in progress at a home in Plum Coulee. 
    
According to police, the suspect had already left the home by the time officers arrived. It was, however, determined that the suspect was on conditions not to show up at the victim's home.
    
About an hour later, police in Morden notified Altona officers that they had the suspect in custody for a different matter.
    
He was remanded into custody on multiple charges of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Altona police issue warning after stalking incident

Altona police officers issued a warning after they were notified of a possible stalking incident last week. 
    
According to the department's latest activities report, the complainant indicated that a co-worker's ex-partner was following them around town. 

Police spoke to both parties and issued the warning for Criminal Harassment.
