Grinch reports and Santa sightings greeted folks in Humboldt on Saturday, along with a peculiar team-up in Muenster on Sunday evening.

The grumpy green one and some Whoville compatriots greeted visitors to the Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon for its annual market. Cindy Lou Who, faithful sidekick Max and the Grinch himself mugged for photos with a huge shopping crowd.

A few blocks south, at the Humboldt and District Museum, Santa and Mrs. Claus had a slightly more hospitable greeting for youngsters and families. Kids gathered for Christmas photo ops and had a chance to play a crokinole style curling game and indulge in crafts and decoration design.

It all came to a head when Santa and the Grinch met in Muenster for the annual Twinkle Tour. Instead of duking it out on the mean streets of Muenster, the pair teamed up with the Muenster Fire Department to spread Christmas Cheer throughout the town. A north wind didn’t deter evening walkers from taking in the bonfire at the community hall or the horse drawn carriage rides courtesy of Northland Recreation Supply of Muenster. Hot chocolate was a staple of the evening courtesy of Hotel Muenster. Proceeds of a silver collection went to the Muenster Cooperative Daycare Centre.

The holiday season was in full swing with all the festive activities. You have opportunities to see Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Humboldt and District Museum until December 21.
