At 10:57 a.m. the police in Madison, Wisconsin received a call about an active shooting at Abundant Life Christian School, a 28-acre facility that includes a daycare center as well as Kindergarten through 12th grade.
A second grade student was the one who made the call to 9-1-1. The incident took place in a study hall full of students from mixed grades.
No shots were fired by the officers, and when they arrived on the scene multiple people were shot and injured, including students and a teacher.
According to MPD, the shooter has been identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by Samantha. Rupnow was a student at the school and right now it looks like she died from a self-inflicted wound.
Three people's death, including Rupnow, have been confirmed. Two students caught in the violence are in critical condition and have life threatening injuries.
"We have been flooded with thoughts & prayers," said Abundant Life Christian School on Facebook at 9:00 p.m. on Monday. "This great nation is behind us. So grateful for the tsunami of prayers for our students, staff, & families."
