In the Dec 17 court proceedings, preliminary hearing dates were confirmed for William Jones on June 10th and 11th, 2024, in a case stemming from a fatal collision in Kindersley on April 27, 2024.

Jones faces four charges related to the incident:

one count, operation of a conveyance while impaired causing death, Section 320.14(3)(1b), Criminal Code; and
one count, operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood causing death, Section 320.13(3), Criminal Code; and
one count, failure to stop after accident, causing death, Section 320.16(3), Criminal Code; and
one count, causing death by criminal negligence, Section 220(b), Criminal Code.

In a separate matter, a defendant involved in a collision at Boston Pizza in Kindersley on September 8, 2024, was sentenced after pleading guilty to impaired driving. The individual was sentenced to 34 days at the Saskatchewan impaired driver treatment center, along with one month of probation.

Thirteen other cases were adjourned, including the Heid case which involves 22 charges. These are scheduled to return to court in January 2025.
