Drivers in Airdrie may face hazardous conditions on their commutes this afternoon, as multiple collisions have been reported in the city and on area highways.

Earlier today, the RCMP, fire crews, and tow trucks responded to a collision on Edmonton Trail in Airdrie. Just after the weigh station, a jack-knifed semi-truck was reported on the QEII heading southbound towards Calgary.

The QEII, both south and north of the city, is primarily bare and dry. However, icy sections have been reported on the shoulders, and snowfall and fog create challenges. Some motorists have also reported patches of black ice and blowing snow.

Highway 580, north of Airdrie near Carstairs, is partially covered with snow. Strong winds and icy shoulders contribute to potential hazards, though visibility remains good.

Drivers are urged to adjust their speed, stay alert, and plan for changing weather conditions.
