Futuristic Industries recently celebrated an eventful year full of community engagement, fundraising, and new milestones. As they reflect on their busy 2024, the organization expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Humboldt community.
The year kicked off with a celebration of Futuristic Industries' 50th anniversary, an occasion that set the tone for a series of successful events. Ray Whitton, director of Futuristic Industries, highlighted the support they received from local residents, which helped fuel a series of charitable initiatives.
“We want to thank the community for all the support we’ve garnered,” Ray remarked, noting that their efforts to raise funds for Telemiracle were particularly impactful. From February to March, Futuristic Industries participated in the popular fundraising show as part of the Sask Talent segment.
The following months were marked by more community-focused activities. In the spring, the organization engaged in dog walking events with the SPCA, and hosted local children from St. Dominic’s School and Humboldt Public School for art projects and music performances. Ray also mentioned how Humboldt Broncos players joined the fun on Thursday nights, creating memorable moments for all involved.
Summer was just as busy, with highlights including a show at the Villa in June, where members of Futuristic Industries performed and mingled with residents. A trip to Moose Jaw followed in July, offering those who had never visited the city the chance to explore its underground tunnels and other local attractions. The annual BBQ in August raised significant funds for the shop, while the Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament continued its tradition of generosity.
September saw the opening of a new group home for Futuristic Industries, an exciting milestone for the organization. Later in the year, participants were able to attend a Rider game, taking part in the memorable experience of being on the field before the game began. This special moment was described as a "dream come true" for many of the individuals involved.
As the year wound down, Futuristic Industries hosted a series of festive events in December, including an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and the annual Christmas Bingo at the shop. These events brought the community together to celebrate the season in a joyful and inclusive way.
Whitton was quick to credit the hardworking staff and board members for making all of these accomplishments possible.
“None of this would have been possible without the support and dedication of our staff and board here at Futuristic Industries,” he said. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to the community for their continued love and support.
Looking ahead to 2025, Ray expressed excitement about the possibilities for the new year, stating that it may bring even more opportunities for growth and success.
To close out the year, Ray Whitton and Stephanie Keller, community engagement officer, offered their warm holiday wishes to the community.
“On behalf of Futuristic Industries, our board of directors, and staff, we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025,” they said, expressing their hope for continued partnership in the year ahead.
