A local business is raising money for a young girl’s trip to the Mayo Clinic.
Dalia Dyck, a 12-year-old from Mitchell has been faced with several undiagnosed medical conditions. The community has come together to support her and help cover the costs of the expensive testing she will undergo in Rochester, United States.
A bake sale fundraiser sold out within hours thanks to overwhelming community support, and now Days Inn Steinbach wants to join in.
Steph Klassen says Dalia’s uncle who works for Schinkel Properties, posted an article about Dalia in their work group chat which sparked an idea.
“Instantly I knew that as a company we wanted to help her out. Our whole mission statement is genuine care. And when something is important to one of our employees, it's important to all of us. I got to work figuring out how we could help, and Cass was up for the plan.”
Cass Wieler shares that they will be donating $2.00 from every room night stay in January to Dalia.
“Also, we will be having a box for anyone who wants to drop off donations and don't necessarily want to stay.”
Wieler shares that with people coming from all over to stay at the hotel, it gives them an opportunity to spread awareness to people outside of Steinbach and the area.
“We have guests staying from all over Canada and even into the States too, so it's great to just get the cause out there for anybody who wants to donate.”
She adds, “We really love helping out the community. We are really community minded. Just trying to do our best to bring joy and genuine care to the community.”
