Chestermere City Council approved the 2025 budget at a special council meeting on Wednesday (Dec. 18).
The Capital Budget has been approved at $25,101,149, while the Operating Budget was approved at $55,557,016.
The meeting also mentioned that there would be no immediate increase to the municipal tax rate, with council planning to speak more about the rate in April.
The presentation also went through a breakdown of where the money from the budget would go and what the city spent taxpayer dollars on. For example, $15,155,000 of the Capital Budget would be going toward roads and infrastructure, while $1,845,829 would go toward schools and recreation.
The meeting also displayed some key projects for 2026-2029, including a recreation centre, a second fire hall, and a bridge repair at Chestermere Boulevard.
Between January and March, there will be a final assessment of the budget, with the Operating Budget being adjusted as needed.
The full budget document can be read on the City of Chestermere's website.
