The short fall session of the provincial legislature saw Cypress Hills MLA Doug Steele take on some new responsibilities.
He became the governing Saskatchewan Party's caucus chair and was invited to sit in on cabinet meetings in that role.
"I feel good about," Steele said. "It's a lot more active than I was. It's a position where you get the endorsement of all your fellow MLAs. It's a real honour to take that position on.
"I help coordinate and organize fellow MLAs and caucus management, scheduling a lot of different things and just managing the whole Sask Party caucus through the next little while."
Steele is looking at it as a period of change for the Sask Party following some seat losses in the provincial election and some new faces in caucus.
"We're in a building stage right now and working together with the new MLAs that come in to help them get their feet underneath them," Steele said. "We're going to build it bigger and stronger. Not saying that we weren't strong, but fresh faces, fresh energy and move forward."
Steele was happy with their work in the short session including changes to income tax that he feels will reduce people's tax burden.
"I'm hoping that's just the start," Steele said. "It's going to be positive to try to leave the dollars that the public earn in their hands to be able to spend themselves rather than government."
