Eva was born near Plum Coulee in 1935. She was the eighth of eleven children. Eva grew up in Lavenham and MacGregor. She graduated from Teacher’s College in Winnipeg and taught in a one-room schoolhouse as well as the North End of Winnipeg. Eva married Art Fehr in 1965 and they moved to a farm near Garson. They had a daughter, Lesley, in 1968 and a son, Rod, in 1971. Eva continued to work as a substitute teacher and then for many years as a teacher’s aide. She loved to watch young children learn and play. She ran a large Sunday School program in Garson and also led women’s bible studies. Eva’s hands were always busy with sewing, gardening, wood-working, upholstery, quilting, and other crafts. She had a strong singing voice, a great sense of humour, and she loved to tell stories and visit. Eva loved her extended family and took a special interest in her 70+ nieces and nephews. She had an incredible memory and loved learning. Eva was always generous and everyone who visited usually left with a craft, baking, or something from the garden. She was always making new friends of all ages. Eva and Art eventually moved into a house in Selkirk where they lived for 15 years. Eva prayed for her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren by name each day. Eva will celebrate her 90th birthday in heaven and she will be dearly missed by all.
