Humboldt's Jacob Wassermann lifts Canada to a Paralympic position in adaptive rowing
The latest athletic exploit from Humboldt’s Jacob Wassermann has landed Canada a critical spot in the PR1 Men’s singles rowing competition in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Wassermann is a relative newcomer to competitive rowing on a national level. Given that his on-water training options are limited in the icy climes of a Saskatoon winter, his silver medal finish at the Continental Qualification Regata in Rio de Janeiro is even more remarkable. The Humboldt Broncos Memorials Committee unveils concept plan for Memorial Site
The Humboldt Broncos Memorials Committee has released a draft concept plan for a permanent memorial at the site of the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos tragedy. The site of the tragedy is 170 km northeast of Humboldt at the intersection of Highways 35 and 335 near Tisdale. The committee is comprised of representatives of the 2017-2018 Humboldt Broncos Families, Humboldt Broncos Board members, Humboldt Public Art committee, and City Council. For the full story. 2017-2018 Humboldt Broncos Day and Green Shirt Day
Communities of Humboldt and surrounding areas join with the province, country and the international community to mark the 6th anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos Bus Tragedy.
At the March meeting of City Council, Mayor Michael Behiel signed a pair of proclamations honouring the legacy of the 2017-2018 Humboldt Broncos.
The proclamations acknowledged the tragic bus accident that resulted in the heartbreaking loss of 16 people and the everlasting impact on 13 survivors, families and the community. For the full story Click here
Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame - A weekend of celebration Part 1
A marvellous turnout at both celebrations met five Humboldt heroes at the Dinner of Champions and the Saturday Meet and Greet for the 2024 Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame Inductions. Three athletes and two builders were welcomed to the fold on Friday night with the gala dinner held at Jubilee Hall in the Humboldt Uniplex. Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame celebration - Part 2
A lively group gathered on Friday night at the Uniplex for a special Dinner with Champions in honour of five wonderful local individuals who poured their hearts and souls into athletics, either as participants or builders. The Humboldt and District Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was a mirthful evening of reminiscence and raucous laughter, thanks to the stewardship of Dave Hill and Chad Knaus as MC.
