Change is a constant in the world of business, and that’s how it’s been at the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce this year. Through it all, the Chamber has been there supporting its members, the board has been fostering innovative programs, and it continues to have its eyes firmly planted on the future.
Elvircia Natlazo-Vythiligngum, new executive director of the Chamber, expressed the organization's unwavering focus on service amidst these transitions.
"This year, the Chamber underwent a few staffing changes. As we all know, while transitions can bring about challenges, our team has remained focused on maintaining a high standard of service," she said.
Among the standout events of the year was the highly anticipated Provincial All Candidates Forum, which allowed local business members to engage directly with political candidates in the fall’s provincial election on issues important to the business community. The Chamber also celebrated Small Business Week with a weeklong series of events, including a special evening dedicated to honoring the hard work of local entrepreneurs.
"The Small Business Week celebration was a great opportunity to highlight the dedication of our entrepreneurs," Natlazo-Vythiligngum shared.
Recognizing inclusivity and diversity were also at the forefront of the Chamber's initiatives in 2024. A notable moment was the support for the SASKQUEER Entrepreneurs and Professionals information session designed to foster a more inclusive business environment.
To close out the year, the Chamber is hosting its annual Jingle and Mingle event, a festive gathering for members to celebrate accomplishments and share in the holiday spirit with staff and board members. "This is a perfect way to wrap up a year full of achievements and look ahead to the opportunities in 2025," Natlazo-Vythiligngum said.
Looking to the future, the Chamber is excited about the opportunities that 2025 will bring. Plans are already in motion to offer new perks and benefits for members, including expanded networking opportunities and business growth programs.
"We are working on setting up new perks and benefits for our members designed to offer even greater support in the year to come," she revealed.
At the core of the Chamber's mission is advocacy. As the business landscape continues to evolve, the Humboldt Industry Chamber of Commerce remains dedicated to representing its members at local, provincial, and national levels.
"Supporting our members and working together can foster a business environment that is vibrant, inclusive, and successful," Natlazo-Vythiligngum concluded.
While 2024 presented some challenges, it was ultimately a year of connection, celebration, and steadfast support for Humboldt's local businesses. The Chamber is confident that 2025 will be another year of growth, success, and collaboration for all its members.
