The Humboldt Early Years Family Resource Centre (HEYFRC) continues to be a valuable resource for families with children aged 0 to 5. Trish Maxwell, superintendent of learning for the Horizon School Division, emphasized the importance of the center, describing it as "a wonderful early childhood environment that offers a variety of support to families."

The FRC serves as a great place for kids to socialize, and parents can connect in the spacious and stimulating environment.

"Families may choose to use the center as a warm place for their children to play while they socialize with other parents at the same stage of life," Maxwell explained. The center offers a flexible environment, allowing families to be as involved as they wish, whether by taking part in the programs or simply enjoying the facilities.

Maxwell also encouraged families to explore the center's monthly calendar of events, available on the FRC's website and Facebook page.

"The staff at the FRC provide engaging programs for families, and I highly recommend that everyone check out what’s coming up this month," she said.

One of the center’s most successful programs is the Dolly Parton Library, which has seen significant community uptake and support.

"Last year, we registered 86 families for the program, and with generous donations and grants, we were able to sign up 130 children," said Maxwell. The program aims to promote early literacy and provide free books to young children.

Another major initiative highlighted by Maxwell is the FRC's efforts to connect with local organizations to provide further resources for families.

"We’ve been working hard to build partnerships with other groups that support families," she said. A recent highlight was the Child Expo and Toy Swap, where 90 families participated, discovering available services and connecting with organizations such as the Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP), the Saskatchewan Advocate, and SAS Prevents.

"Families had a great time meeting Bluey and Bingo and exploring the various local services," Maxwell added.

As the holiday season approaches, Maxwell took a moment to extend her wishes to the community.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families involved with the Family Resource Center and those we hope to invite soon a very Merry Christmas."

For families in the Humboldt area, the Family Resource Center remains an essential hub of support and connection, offering numerous opportunities to engage and access resources.
