Election season was in full swing in October with the provincial election on Oct. 28. Here's a look at the some of the top stories in October.
Saskatchewan Party holds majority after election, but with smaller margin
After months of campaigning and 28 days after the writ was dropped, the results of the 2024 Saskatchewan provincial election are in.
The Saskatchewan Party will be returning to government with a slightly smaller mandate. When the counting was done Monday night, they were leading in 35 of the 61 seats and captured just slightly more than half of the popular vote.

Racquel Hilbert takes Humboldt-Watrous for Sask Party
As results from rural areas begin to come in early in the evening, it became evident that in the Humboldt-Watrous constituency, electors had chosen the Sask Party and welcomed a new MLA, Racquel Hilbert.

Chris Beaudry victorious for the Sask Party in Kelvington-Wadena
The newly realigned Kelvington-Wadena constituency left Sask party candidate Chris Beaudry miles to travel to connect with his constituents, but he proved up to the challenge as roughly an hour after the polls closed, the St. Front farmer was declared elected.

Fill the Semi sees area cooperatives team up
Humboldt and area cooperatives are teaming up for a great cause this fall.
Eight locations will be working together to fill a semi-trailer with food bound for the Humboldt and Lanigan Food Banks. The Fill the Semi campaign kicked off on October 13 and goes to October 31.

Carl Schenn Dry Pond Project finished
Work at the Carl Schenn Dry Pond is now complete after years of planning and construction.
Following the significant rainstorm in 2015 that happened in Humboldt which caused a significant amount of flooding, the city has worked on solutions to prevent that from happening again, which has led to the creation of dry ponds, first on the Uniplex/Centennial Grounds and now at Carl Schenn Park

Blustery weather failed to dampen the spirits at the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Site sod turning
A blustery and rainy Saturday wasn’t a deterrent to the group sinking shovels into the soggy soil at the Memorial Site for the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy.
Members of the 2017 – 2018 Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee and Broncos family members gathered on Saturday morning, October 5, for a ceremonial sod turning to mark to official beginning of the construction phase at the site.
