“Once I became a coach, I realized that I couldn’t keep it to myself.”

With a desire to educate herself for the sake of her own personal well-being, Kristin Friesen ended up becoming a certified nutritionist in 2015.

“I didn’t know how to eat well. I’d always been on this diet or that. I thought that it’d be a good way to learn how to feed myself and my family, not really thinking about it becoming a job.”

Friesen was presented with the opportunity to become a Metabolic Balance® coach in 2017- a program offered through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. Today, based in Swift Current, Friesen works with clients across Canada, the United States, and even as far as Australia.

While her services are available to both men and women, Friesen notes that the majority of her clients are women.

“The reason that I work with a lot of women is because a lot of women bounce around from diet to diet- that’s my story, and I know that it’s the same for many other women.”

She expresses that many people have never really learned how to eat- how to create a balanced meal to help you achieve your desired goals or energy levels. She acknowledges the presence of crash diets toted by strangers on the internet- promising immediate weight loss results that inevitably lead to near-immediate weight gain.

“This is why I enjoy showing people that there is a way to lose weight naturally, there is a way to boost your metabolism… and you can do it without committing to a monthly subscription or an injection.”

Friesen is currently offering free 30-minute nutrition consultations. This consultation happens over the phone and is an opportunity for clients to share concerns, discuss goals, and pinpoint key areas that need work.

“It’s just a call to help them feel encouraged about their health, and a chance to learn how personalized nutrition can support them,” Friesen shares. “A lot of times we try to do things on our own, we get stuck, so we give up, or it feels too hard, or something needs to be changed, but we don’t know what. So having a personalized coach may be beneficial. It’s a no-pressure conversation.”

Bringing her services to Swift Current, Friesen wishes to emphasize that this is a science-backed nutrition program.

“A lot of people like to know that what they’re doing is something that is proven, and that is healthy. Sure, it’s nice to see really quick results, but I think that people in our community want real, natural, lasting change.”

Metabolic Balance® is a scientifically proven program in personalized nutrition that uses detailed blood analysis to create individualized meal plans tailored to each client.

Since being established in 2002, Metabolic Balance® has emphasized principles like balanced whole meals without removing whole food groups, supporting gut health, staying hydrated, increasing nutrient levels, decreasing pain and inflammation, and balancing key hormones.

The process starts with a simple blood analysis that provides a deep understanding of each person's overall health, including nutrient insufficiencies and imbalances. Using this data along with the client’s health history, an individualized meal plan is created to determine the ideal foods to help restore the body to optimal health.

“There are no pills, shakes, or prepackaged foods,” Friesen promises.

Friesen’s services are available in multiple formats, as she hopes to connect with clients in whichever way is most comfortable for them. These include online meetings, phone calls, and in-person appointments.
