The Humboldt and District Gallery launches into the new year with a tandem set of events on Saturday, January 4, centred around the work on Monique Martin.
Vicissitude Opening & Talk:
Vicissitude by Monique Martin and Alexandra Hedberg is heading to the Humboldt & District Gallery to start the New Year. This captivating art installation features thousands of silkscreened, highly realistic butterflies clustered on branches suspended from the ceiling, as well as a stunning floor piece that can be walked on in sock feet.
Monique Martin is an eco-conscious, internationally recognized, multi-disciplinary artist from Saskatoon with a 25-year exhibition history who has exhibited her artwork in hundreds of significant solo, invited, and juried exhibitions in numerous countries. She worked together with Swedish artist Alexandra Hedberg to create the vibrant floor pieces for the exhibition.
This exhibit is on display from January 4 to February 22, 2025.
Monique Martin will be at the Gallery on January 4, 2025, at 1:30pm for an opening reception and artist talk where you can learn about the amazing journey in creating this exhibition. This event is free and everyone is welcome.
Silkscreen Workshop:
Led by Canadian artist Monique Martin, you can learn to silkscreen butterflies onto a pillowcase on January 4, 2025, from 9:00am to 11:30am! Monique’s silkscreened artwork has been shown all over the world. She will teach registrants how to overlay yellow, orange, and black to silkscreen their own butterfly collection on a cotton pillowcase. This workshop is in conjunction with the exhibition Vicissitude at the Gallery.
The workshop costs $25 per person, and pre-registration is required. All supplies are included. Call 306-682-5226 or email info@humboldtmuseum.ca to register.
