A Texas couple had their prayers answered in a very unusual way.

Last month, while shopping for a sweater for a family photo shoot in the big and tall section at JCPenney, Laura and Wendell Garrett noticed a crowd. When they looked into it further, they realized it was former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and his security team.

"We went to another counter and bought the sweater," said Laura. "As we were trying to leave, an employee asked if we could stay for 15 minutes because she had a surprise for us."

The woman handed the Garretts a cart and told them to fill it .

"We then realized that whatever we put in the cart, we would get to keep."

Laura and Wendell immediately knew who they would be gifting their items to. The couple volunteers with a local ministry called Beautiful Feet and each year they adopt families and provide them with a special Christmas hamper.

"I had been praying [before we arrived at the mall] about how we were going to fund it because it's been a harder year financially for us," said Laura. "Then Shaq came by and handed Wendell a $500 gift card to JCPenney. What a blessing that we will get to bless others. God is good, all the time."

The blessings didn't stop there. As the couple was leaving, an employee asked how it went.

"The next thing I knew, Wendell being Wendell asked her if there was anything we could pray for.  We prayed for her Dad, and then another employee saw us praying and stood next to us. Wendell turned to her and asked her what we could pray for. All four of us prayed for her knee to be healed."

"God definitely used [Shaq] to make this Christmas a little more special," said Wendell.
