Rising Above is gearing up for an exciting milestone in its mission to combat addiction and support recovery in Grande Prairie. On January 6, the organization will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new recovery facility at 1:30 pm on its current property. The new facility will increase capacity by 19 beds, bringing their total to 70 beds when combined with their second-stage housing.

"This expansion is about meeting the growing need," says Mel Siggelkow, Executive Director of Rising Above. "Addiction is increasing, not just in Grande Prairie but across the country, and we need to be ready to help as many people as possible."

The ceremony will include a short outdoor event followed by refreshments and opportunities to learn more about the project. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months, with completion projected by early 2026. The new facility will allow women to live on-site, enhancing their access to care and support.

"The community has been incredible in helping us reach 70% of our fundraising goal," says Siggelkow. "We’re excited to move forward, and we hope to open the doors debt-free with the continued generosity of our supporters."
