A vigil for Calgary homicide victim Ania Kaminski is scheduled for Friday (Jan. 3) night.

The vigil will be held near Tuscany Ridge Heights from 9 to 10 p.m. and will celebrate Ania's life.

On December 29, Ania and her father Stanislaw Wardzala were found dead, with police believing that Ania's husband Benedict was responsible for both deaths.

An emergency alert was issued the following day as police searched for Benedict, who was found dead in northwest Calgary later that day.

True North Society, a Strathmore-based group that works to spread awareness of domestic violence, spoke about Ania's death.

"Ania's story is a stark reminder of the dangers of family violence," wrote True North. "If you are concerned about violence in your or a loved one's relationship, True is available to offer information, support, and safety planning."

The society also provided a list of shelters throughout the country.

A GoFundMe was launched to support Ania's children, which has already raised over $247,000.
